The Fundraising Mission

sooooooo, as a result of all of this I now find myself on a fundraising mission with a target of £5400. All of the money raised goes to the Project Trust to pay for volunteers flights, insurance, support, selection, training, debriefing, accommodation and pocket money throughout the 12 months, it's a huge challenge - but a crucial one, not only in allowing the charity to operate but also in order to test volunteers commitment! 

I'm ready anyway! And have the utmost faith that fundraising-fun is coming my way! More than can be said for my parents, who just keep exclaiming "that is A LOT of money!!" hahah (To which I reply "You just got to have faith parents o' mine")

Either way my next few weeks are going to spent writing letter after letter to trusts in the hope that a few of them will support me! As well as that I'm trying to get in contact with my local clubs and businesses and after that will be looking into some events!

Selection

Life's about to get exciting; I've just been selected to spend a year in Uganda with Project Trust! 

School 'progression days' somehow ended with me booking on to a selection course and so in the strange sequence of events that it looks like will one day define my life, I just spent one of the best weeks of my life on the Isle of Coll. The week was absolutely packed, I dug holes, filled holes back in, climbed a mini-mountain, got leg cramp on top of the mini-mountain, learnt to Scottish dance and made some friends for life.

I also did an embarrassing presentation on wind turbines and made the terrifying decision that I want to spend the next year of my life in Uganda! 

After an agonizing week of waiting after my return to Peterborough, I finally got a letter saying that I had been accepted! I won't know real details until May but I know that I'll be going to teach in an underprivileged school, effected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and lack of qualified teachers.
I've got no way to contain my excitement and I'm still not really sure if it's real, but as a result of all of this I now find myself on a fundraising mission with a target of £5400! 

Now that it's all in place, I hope to use this blog to keep you all updated on what's to come - from my fundraising mission to my year in Uganda! 

So happy & so excited & so ready for this crazy journey to begin!
